Our Mission:
Develop Affordable Housing for Economically Disadvantaged Senior Citizens
Our Mission:
Independent Senior Cultural Living (ISCL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to developing safe, affordable housing for economically disadvantaged, underserved, and diverse senior citizens in California’s Bay Area. We believe that a home is more than a renovated apartment—it is the foundation for a vibrant, independent, and culturally connected life.
To achieve our goal, we must raise funds to acquire and transform multi-unit properties into safe and dignified housing for the low-income, displaced seniors in distressed communities. Simultaneously, we look forward to fostering a thriving community by providing direct support that empowers seniors’ independence and engagement. This includes facilitating access to essentials, like healthy foods, creating and engaging in social opportunities, like attending 'JUST Coffee' fundraisers, at Chabot FleaMarket, in Hayward, CA. This also means providing practical support like access to subsidized area median rent, and making their retirement affordable and comfortable.
Our holistic approach ensures that while we work towards securing housing, we also actively nurture the community, resources, and everyday joys that allow our seniors to truly prosper. We accomplish this through: community education, fundraising initiatives, the dedication of volunteers, and the generous support of donors. Your tax-deductible contributions—including monetary gifts, property, vehicles, and other qualifying assets as outlined in IRS Publication 561—directly fuel our mission to build not just housing, but a future where every senior can thrive.
ISCL FUTURE
Our initiative facilitates critical renovations for low-income minority seniors by partnering with housing providers, securing public grants, and ensuring upgrades align with aging-in-place principles. We focus on equity—prioritizing Black, Latino, and immigrant seniors who face systemic barriers for safe housing. We understand the importance of providing a comfortable and dignified living environment for our economically disadvantaged senior citizens. In this section, we highlight our ongoing efforts to improve the quality of housing for seniors in distressed communities. Through dedicated fundraising and community support, we strive to renovate and revitalize existing facilities, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of safety, accessibility, and comfort.
Join us in our mission to transform the lives of underserved senior citizens by exploring the inspiring stories and impactful renovations that have made a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Together, we can create a nurturing and vibrant community for our cherished seniors.
